History helps us to understand the world around us and develop an awareness of global and local issues. To begin to understand what life was like in the past children first have to develop an understanding of time and their own place in history. They then develop the skills to understand an event from different viewpoints, use sources to gather information and they then begin to build up a picture of world history and our place in it.

During the year we celebrate events like ‘Local History Month’ which gives pupils the opportunities to learn about the history of the local area.
